A certified document translation is a complete, word-for-word translation of an official document from its original language into English, accompanied by a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy. This certificate is a formal declaration — signed by the translator or an authorized representative of the translation company — attesting that the translation is accurate and complete.
Under U.S. federal regulation 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), USCIS requires that any foreign-language document submitted as evidence in an immigration case must be accompanied by a certified English translation. This applies to every document type: birth certificates, marriage licenses, academic transcripts, court orders, police clearances, medical records, and any other civil or government-issued document not originally in English.

Are your translations notarized?
We provide certified translations by default, which is what USCIS and most educational institutions require. If you additionally need a Notarized Translation (often required for passports, specific government agencies, or courts), you can add notarization at checkout for $19.95.
What documents does USCIS require to be translated?
USCIS requires certified English translations for every foreign-language document submitted as evidence. This includes birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees, academic transcripts, diplomas, police clearances, military records, adoption records, name change documents, and any other civil or government-issued document not originally in English. The translation must include a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy per 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3).
Can I translate my own documents for USCIS?
Technically, USCIS does not prohibit self-translation, but it is strongly discouraged and significantly increases the risk of a Request for Evidence (RFE) or outright rejection. USCIS requires a signed certification that the translator is competent to translate. What is the difference between certified and notarized translation?
A certified translation includes a word-for-word translation of your document accompanied by a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy on company letterhead. This is what USCIS, universities, and most U.S. institutions require. A notarized translation adds a notary public's seal and signature on top of the certification — sometimes required by state courts, real estate transactions, or international submissions. We provide certified translations by default, with notarization available as an add-on for $19.95.
