Chinese Death Certificate Translation

In mainland China, death is documented through several overlapping records: the 死亡医学证明书 (medical death certificate) issued by the hospital or medical institution that confirms the cause and circumstances of death; the 户口注销证明 (household deregistration certificate) issued by the 公安派出所 (police station) when the deceased’s 户口 (household registration) is cancelled; and the 居民死亡殱葬证 (cremation/burial certificate) issued by the 民政局 (civil affairs bureau).

Each document type contains different information and serves a different legal purpose.
