When a Chinese Transcript Already Has English Course Names From CHSI

What We Received

A client submitted a one-page Chinese BA transcript from Anhui Science and Technology University (安徽科技学院). The transcript covered an English Education major completed in July 2016, with 74 courses across eight semesters. She also provided a separate seven-page CHSI verification report — the official bilingual credential check from China's Higher Education Student Information Center. The CHSI report listed every course with the university's English name alongside the Mandarin. The certified <a href="/translate/chinese-transcript">Chinese academic transcript translation</a> was needed for a US Master's program admissions packet.

How We Handled It

We translated the original one-page transcript into a clean sequential layout. Semester-by-semester course tables replaced the cramped three-column landscape of the original. For every course name, we cross-referenced our English against the CHSI report. Where the CHSI English matched a standard academic catalog form, we used it verbatim. Where it differed, we deferred to the CHSI version. The issuing university's official English usage carries more weight than an independent translator's choice.

Three institutional stamps overlap content in the lower portion of the original. The oval Academic Affairs Office seal partially covers the Level Examination Status section in the bottom right. The digit indicating examination level was not legible for several entries, so those entries were marked '[illegible]' rather than guessed. We made no assumption about whether the English-level entries refer to CET, TEM, or another examination system — the source character is simply not readable.

Holder name was transliterated as 'Lihua Li' per the official English form on the CHSI report. All blank fields in the original (Degree, Diploma Number, Class GPA Average, Total Credits Required, Required/Elective/Optional credit breakdown, Reviewed-by) were explicitly marked '[Blank in original]' rather than left empty in the translation.
